What area does Mountain View Lock service?
Our general service area extends from Menlo Park to North San Jose including Mountain View, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Los Altos, Portola Valley and vicinity. For some Jobs we are able to travel farther away.
Does Mountain View Lock offer free estimates?
Almost all jobs we do can be priced accurately over the phone. We will ask you questions regarding the work you need done, and may request that you email us pictures. It is our goal to be as efficient as possible and save time and money for our customers
How does scheduling work at Mountain View Lock?
We operate with a full schedule of jobs booked in advanced, but can accommodate emergencies or customer deadlines as needed. Give us a call to find out availability for specific jobs.
What is a “Service Call”?
A Service Call is the charge to come to your location. This charge is necessary to cover the costs of trucks, fuel, and insurance.
How does Mountain View Lock determine the price of a job?
Labor is charged at an hourly rate (with a 15 minute minimum). Parts are additional and are subject to tax. The Service Call and Labor is not taxable. Some jobs, such as rekeying are charged a set price per lock – the charge is based on the average time they take. Please call for specific pricing information.
Does Mountain View Lock offer discounts?
No. Our policy is to offer all of our customers the best possible prices we can. We do not feel it is fair to inflate our prices in order to offer any percentage “discount”. Our prices are reasonable and we stand behind our work.
What about a quantity discount?
Usually not. A large quantity of locks being rekeyed or keys being made takes the same amount of time per lock or per key as a small quantity. We can sometimes offer a discount on a large quantity of a retail item – please call for specific request.
What is the store return policy?
Items can be returned unopened in original packaging within 30 days from purchase along with receipt. No returns on special order items or electronic items.
What kind of car keys are able to be copied?
We can duplicate most car keys, even newer transponder keys and high security keys. Some car manufacturers keep transponder information proprietary, so the best way to find out if we can duplicate your car key is to call us with your specific vehicle year and model.
What is the store policy for making
“Do Not Duplicate” keys? We will not copy unless you bring in authorization letter on letterhead. High-security keys have additional restrictions – Please bring in key or call for more information.

- Bring in safe doors to be serviced or combo changed
- Call or come in for troubleshooting advice
- Schedule a service call for multiple jobs in one visit
